About Me

Hello. I’m Pat and I’d like to share some adventures with you. While we’re at it, let me help you plan your own.

In my 30s, I am the oldest of three boys and was born and raised in northern New Jersey. I know you have your preconceptions about New Jersey, cripes, even my friend Nelly who lives in Czechia “knew” about Jersey when I first met her, but I can assure you that you’re largely wrong.

While I lived in Pennsylvania, every time I heard someone ripping on New Jersey I would ask, “Where in New Jersey have you been?” The answer was always the same. “Newark Airport” or “Trenton.” Yeah, okay. Figures.

Well, while NJ does have its share of shopping malls and there are the oil refineries at points along the coast, where I grew up is a suburban/rural area on a lake that’s surrounded by forests.

Camping, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, massive games of man-hunt, and bonfires were the norm. I guess you can say that this is where I developed my thirst for adventure.

Me

Mark Twain once said, this is, “The most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world.”

I couldn’t agree more.

To the loyalty and bravery of the Swiss.

Taking my first travel steps!

When I was fresh out of college, all of my friends were going on so many exciting trips. I was invited to go along, but at the time, I was the only one who could never afford to go. Awesome feeling, right?

Well, fast-forward to when I finally had a regular job and could afford join in on the adventures! The only problem was that my friends had largely stopped traveling and those who still did, now did so with their growing families.

Faced with a lack of traveling partners, I decided to take my first step into solo adventure travel.

What you’ll find on my site:

Adventure Travel

While I do have many destinations and articles on here that aren’t the most adventurous, adventure travel will always be my main jam. As such, I’ve got some sick trips lined up that will be coupled with solid details and guides. Just wait!

Solo Travel

Traveling solo can sound daunting at first. I know it certainly was for me! But now that I have my boots tied tight and my feet firmly beneath me, I’d like to share with you what I’ve learned and show you that you can go on a solo adventure both safely and efficiently.

Budget Travel

Do I have to travel on a budget? No, but I do it anyway. But why would anyone travel on a budget if they don’t have to? Well, if you have $X.XX amount of money allotted for travel, would you rather spend it all visiting one location while staying in an expensive room for less time? Or would you rather be more economical, spread it out, see multiple locations, and take the extra excursions? This is a no brainer to me.

A Straight Shot

If something rips, I’m gonna tell you. If it underwhelms, I’ll let you know that as well. No, I’m not going to over sensationalize anything just for the sake of clicks. So you don’t have to worry about getting any of the “Would this be my last adventure?” while perfectly safe nonsense.

I’ll also do my best to provide context for my choices, most notably for gear. I’m sure you’ve seen gear guides that are essentially just a list. Those are useless. Why was said item chosen? How will it benefit someone through its use? That’s important information when choosing something that might someday save your life.

Anyway, welcome to my site. I hope you enjoy.
